HOMEGROWN Kickstarter Campaign
In planning out my first-ever solo gallery show, I knew it would be impossible to accomplish on-time without some level of financial support. For this, I turned to Kickstarter to crowdfund the project with exclusive, art-centered merchandise as the rewards available to backers.
Thanks to the financial support of 73 generous patrons— the project was fully-funded and HOMEGROWN was a huge success!
Creating a Kickstarter campaign in this way became its own design process on top of all of the artwork developed for the actual show. I illustrated nine different native Floridian animals to represent the backer tiers available— I then printed these as stickers in-house to send along with the rest of the primary backer rewards.
I also designed and self-printed one 12”x12” illustration of Florida, as well as two different screen-printed shirt designs.
Beyond the physical rewards, creating this campaign also required developing a unique brand, producing/editing an introduction video, and designing several pieces of print ephemera (i.e. posters, entry tickets, art vouchers, and commission tickets.)
This campaign really pushed the limits of my existing skills, and required me to branch out in new ways I had never expected. It was definitely a dream project to work on, and I’m so grateful that the backers of HOMEGROWN helped to make it worth all of the effort in the end!
