New Cahoots Shirt
It’s always a great time when I get to work on a project for other creative folks, and on no project has that been more true than in working on this shirt design for The New Cahoots!
When frontman Michael Garcia reached out to me about this project, the goal of the illustration was to serve as an immediately recognizable image to represent the band for their first line of merchandise. This design had to be wearable, simple enough to screen print, read well at sticker-size, AND embody the band’s bluegrass roots united with it’s more modern and funky musical sensibilities. Serving all of those purposes at once was a challenge— but one that was oh-so rewarding to tackle.
Scroll through to see the final design, initial sketches, the final printed shirt— and an alternative initial concept that didn’t make it to print (but that I still have quite a soft spot for!)
Massive thank you to Michael for having me on for this project, as well as the guys over at 850 Screenprinting for doing a fantastic job bringing the final design to life!
